The evening Business Network Uganda stepped into its next chapter.
At 2:00 PM, Nairobi Hall was still becoming itself. Name badges waited at registration, conversations began in twos and threes, and a room that would soon carry the ambitions of a new business community was, for a few quiet minutes, simply a room. Then people arrived. The official BNU Launch, held on 19 September 2026 at Skyz Hotel in Naguru, brought together members, partners, business leaders and friends of the network around one clear belief: valuable connections do not happen by accident. They require the right people, a shared purpose and an environment built for trust.
The evening placed regional partnership firmly within the BNU story. H.E. Ababu Namwamba E.G.H., High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to Uganda, joined the launch as Chief Guest. Principal speakers Richard Wambugu of Equity Bank, Dr. George Wachiuri of Optiven, Olive Kigongo of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Irene Mugisha of the Presidential CEO Forum brought perspectives from finance, enterprise and institutional leadership. Different sectors pointed to one enduring truth: relationships are serious business infrastructure.
Equity Bank, Uganda Baati, Uganda Breweries, Jambojet, Brookside, Fresh Dairy, Kenya Airways, ICEA Lion Uganda, Britam, World Navi, Optiven and Orange Oak Limited helped BNU begin with confidence. The unveiling of the BNU identity marked the transition from an informal network into a more intentional institution. For one evening, it was worth pausing to see the promise in physical form: a room full of people who had chosen to show up for one another. The network became a room. Now the room has work to do.
